How contacts, organizations, and deals fit together in Streak

Streak CRM contact list showing names, emails, companies, linked pipelines (e.g. Wholesale Coffee, Hiring), and mail merge activity.

In Streak, you’ll track three things: people, companies, and the work you’re doing with them.

  • Contact: A person—like a lead, customer, or vendor. A contact can be connected to one or more deals, or none at all.
  • Organization: A company or business. Multiple contacts can belong to the same organization.
  • Box (deal): A piece of work you’re managing, like a sales deal, support case, or job candidate. Boxes are where you track your work and interactions for the specific process you're working on.

From the contact list, you can instantly see which pipelines and deals someone is involved in. When you add a contact to a deal, Streak automatically pulls in all their past emails with your team, giving you full context without digging through inboxes.

Track unique contact data with custom contact columns

Until now, Streak supported standard fields like phone number, email, and address—but now custom contact columns let you track additional data points for each contact.

This has been a long-requested feature as different industries want to track unique types of contact information. For example, you can use custom contact columns to track:

  • Client ID, customer number, or membership ID
  • Dietary restrictions or travel preferences
  • Preferred contact method, language, or time zone
  • Cohort or lead list segment
  • [Coming soon] Date formatted columns for birthdays and other important dates

These are contact-level details that stay with the person—regardless of which deal, pipeline, or process they’re involved in. You’ll be able to view and update these for each contact, and now with contact lists you can view all of this information in one place.

Import lead lists and contact information

Streak CRM import contacts popup with options to upload via Google Sheets or CSV/Excel file.

Add contacts and organizations to your contact lists from a CSV, Excel file, or Google Sheet to keep unqualified or early-stage leads in one place. It's an easy way to manage contacts you’re not ready to add to a pipeline yet.

You can also create custom columns during import to track important details—like referral source or job title. These appear in both the contact list and contact cards, so the right info is always in view.

Add contacts to a mail merge

Use your contact list to send personalized emails at scale by adding contacts directly to a mail merge.

Add contacts from your list to a mail merge to:

  • reach out to leads to qualify interest
  • send newsletters or company announcements to your entire contact lsit
  • follow up with referral partners, applicants, or event attendees

This makes it easy to run lightweight marketing campaigns like newsletters and follow-ups without needing to leave your CRM.

Add contacts to a pipeline

Once a contact is qualified, you can add them to a pipeline directly from the contact list. Just select the contact, choose the pipeline, and Streak will create a new box.

When you add a contact to a box, all of their past emails with your team are pulled into the deal timeline automatically. This gives your team a clear starting point for working the deal, keeps communication consistent, and saves time during handoffs.

Manage your contact list on mobile

Access your full contact list on the Streak mobile app for iOS and Android. You can view contact details, edit custom columns, and stay up to date on the go.

Whether you're checking a client’s time zone before a call or updating notes after a meeting, your contact info is always in reach—no laptop required.

Coming soon: Contact list filters and saved views

We’re actively working on new features to make your contact list even more powerful. One of the biggest requests—and a logical next step—is the ability to filter your contact list and save those filtered views as custom segments.

Soon, you’ll be able to:

  • filter your contact list based on any field
  • save filtered views for quick access to segments based on a contact’s information—like time zone, contacts from a specific referral source, or contacts with a particular client status

Stay tuned for the latest updates and improvements to your contact and organizations lists in Streak.
